The state’s chief minister declared that the “Medhashree” programme has begun for OBC students.

New projects started in the state before the panchayat elections. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced the “Medhashree” scheme for other backward classes and OBC students in the state. Mamata said from Alipurduar on Thursday that under the “Medhashree” scheme, other backward-class students will get a scholarship of Rs 800 per year. As the central government has stopped the scholarship money for OBC students, the state will take that responsibility, claimed the chief minister.

On Thursday, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee alleged that the central government has reaped state funds in several cases. Blaming the central government on this basis, she said, “The scholarships for OBCs have been stopped.” When I give a bicycle, people of all religions, castes and castes get it. I am your guard. We will give 800 rupees for OBC scholarships.

After that, she sarcastically poked the BJP, saying, “But don’t come during the polls to say, OBC friends, vote for me.” Every year, approximately 2 lakh 63 thousand students will get this pre-secondary scholarship, it has been informed by the state. The other backward-class students of the state are naturally happy to hear the announcement of the new scheme by the chief minister.
